What most taught you about money I attended a private high school and was responsible for paying my share of the tuition. I did work-study and worked at a local restaurant to help pay my way. It helped me learn the value of money at an early age.
What is your passion I enjoy many different things, but music has always been a passion of mine. In my younger days I played drums in an alternative rock band that played some of our own original material, as well as covering other artists. We played at the 7th Street Entry/First Avenue, Uptown Bar & Grill and other venues around the Twin Cities.
Alex grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota and went on to graduate with a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. What most taught you about money My mom was a great influence on how I manage money. I have a tendency to want nicer things; she taught me I had to save up a little extra to get exactly what I wanted.
What would you like to be expert at I have always admired the beauty in woodworking. My grandfather had a special talent for making beautiful things by hand.
Favorite book Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner is a much different way to look at the world. I have always been a geek at heart.
Alex was adopted from Bogotà, Colombia, and is Eric’s sister. Alex has always enjoyed working with family. Before joining Munkeby Kramer full time she was a barista at her sister’s coffee shop and occasional part-time employee at Munkeby Financial. Her strong sense of organization, practical thinking and incredible work ethic make Alex an integral part of Munkeby Kramer. When you call, email, or stop in, you will likely talk with Alex, and she will take care of whatever you need.
What most taught you about money Even as a kid I was very frugal, and though my father was a founder of Munkeby Financial, my mom was the one to make sure I got set up with my first checking and savings accounts.
Fun places you have traveled I lived on a Navajo reservation in Arizona for nearly a year. I thoroughly enjoyed hiking and exploring canyons and ruins, mountain biking on red rock, and camping out under the stars – you can’t do that in Minnesota.
